Province Releases Marine Debris Report

Portions of a dock containing styrofoam that washed up on the beach near Gower Point. March 2020

Parliamentary Secretary for the Environment, Sheila Malcolmson, has just published a report summarizing the feedback from stakeholders on marine debris. The consultations took place through the summer and early fall of 2019.

While this is a good summary of the problems we face with marine debris, I’m disappointed that it doesn’t offer more solutions. The review only covers what the province can do. We need a lot more help from the federal government.
